PORTFOLIO
STATEMENT

I draw my imagery from the environment, events and circumstances that impact our everyday life and how we make our own connections, because as human beings we look for these connections. The basis of the work is follow the emotion, extract symbols; marrying the abstract with the figurative. It is a journey through the painting itself one thing overlaps and influences the next.

The work method is created through a layering process of exploring and searching the surface. Sometimes, the mind to hand emotional expression explodes in the carving of the board, or intensity of the line; building a bridge between visual and emotional feelings. This process may invite new meaning to symbols that we have established relationships with, and take it to a new place. Unveiling a new interpretation formed with familiar imagery and a zone for the viewer to recall past connections, while establishing new ones. This process helps me move forward and perhaps the audience it captures.
